HMES3375 Psychology of Sport

OutcomesStudents are able to recognise and discuss psychological issues relevant to performance in sport and exercise; critically analyse applications of psychological theory to sport and exercise behaviour; and develop practical skills in data collection, data analysis and scientific report writing.
 
ContentThis unit covers topics such as the social psychology of competition, personality, arousal and emotion, motivation and performance enhancement interventions. Field experiences in data collection/analysis are used to supplement lecture material.
 
AssessmentThis comprises a mid-semester examination (30 per cent), an end-of-semester examination (40 per cent) and a semester project (30 per cent).
