Credit6 points  AvailabilitySemester 1 (See Timetable) Old unit code: 510.301

This unit is a study of metal-carbon, metalloid-carbon and metal-element reagents that are important synthetic intermediates. It emphasises applications of such compounds in synthesis, catalysis and the production of chemical feedstocks. Topics include polymer types, stereochemistry, preparation of polymers, kinetics of polymerisation, thermodynamics of polymerisation, and chemical and physical properties of polymers.

Unit Co-ordinator(s): Dr George Koutsantonis
Location: UWA (Crawley)
Mode: on-campus

Unit Rules:
Prerequisites: 510.210 Structure Determination and Physical Chemistry 210 (renamed CHEM2210 Structure Determination and Physical Chemistry) and 510.211 Synthetic and Materials Chemistry 211 (renamed CHEM2211 Synthetic and Materials Chemistry)
Contact hourslectures: 2 hrs per week; labs: 50 hrs

Books and other material wherever listed may be subject to change. Book lists relating to 'Preliminary Reading', 'Recommended Reading' and 'Textbooks' are, in most cases, available at the University Co-operative Bookshop (from early January) and appropriate administrative offices for students to consult.
